@Hex The Netherlands is very densely populated, more so than any US state. It's less than 1/10th the size of Texas. Anarchists might be able to make a difference in some of the small, more densly populated states on the east coast, but lots of the funding for the infrastructure that makes peoples lives possible is federal.Politics in the US is extremely tightly tied to access to capital right now. It'd be very difficult to win with a grassroots movement based on a message that will be widely interpreted as "we want to make your life more difficult" given how tightly tied commuting is to people's ability to earn a living. Cities were built to require cars, it will require rebuilding cities to make bicycling feasible. It's happening slowly already though.We already see bikes and bike infrastructure rapidly developing in places with similar conditions to the NL, such as NYC and NJ.

This is clearly not possible at the national level for anarchists in the US. Anyone who made it past the DNC gatekeepers would simply be murdered by fascists (as history has shown).However, local politics do present more options and occasionally anarchists *do* get elected in municipalities and make a lot of positive change...

There's a *ton* of power at the local level and it's often not really contested. Let's just remember diversity of tactics means we shouldn't be leaving any options on the table. This *includes* legislation.Let's also not forget that politics can also be a platform for theater. The right knows this. This is how they primarily use the political system, aside from just smashing things randomly...
