@EU_Commission My question is w.r.t #naturalGas in Europe, is methane leaking from the refineries & main pipelines? I hear this is a widespread problem, but I don’t know if every piece of gas infrastructure is leaky or if some regions have figured out how to stop the leaks. #askFedi

@EU_Commission This is over-simplification.Renewables need raw materials (metals, and rare earths) that do need to be imported and do mean pollution, just not in the EU.I'm against fossil fuels, but I'm also against green washing, lies, and techno-solutionism.Throwing "green energy" as an excuse to keep consuming without addressing the real issues is not going to solve anything.

@Naughtylus @EU_Commission well the CO2e emissions of renewables are not 0 but much much closer. It would of course be good to consume less, too. But we will also in the future need some energy. (Except you like to live unter rocks and hunt animals.) So it is not greenwashing to use renewable energy instead of fissile energy. It actually helps. And it is really really important.

@EU_Commission @duco @hackbyte What I'm denouncing here is the spotlight effect. We're looking at forest fires and saying "we need better planes and we need more of them". But that's just looking at things the wrong way, that's not how you prevent a forest fire.I want renewables, but I don't want them to power stupid electric cars. I want people to ask for trains and railway infrastructure, even if they have to be powered by coal, because that would still be more efficient.

@Naughtylus @EU_Commission @hackbyte not necessarily. A car ride with 4 persons can produce less CO2e than using public transport for the same trip. But sure, in general are trains more sustainable than cars. https://www.bbc.com/news/science-environment-49349566

@EU_Commission Sure, the Gas Taxonomy proves it.
