my little project hit a bit of a snag.> OBS on Manjaro uses version 1.27 with OBS WebSockets version 4>Rust's OBS WebSocket crate only supports WS5 which just came out and is bundled with OBS 1.28>I can't write the WebSocket stuff directly to the board because I don't have networkingsmh. My only options are to fuck around and try to get OBS on 1.28 (which is actual hell), write my own handshake in Rust for an outdated V4 API, or wait.

@josh can't you just get it manually? The release page even said it for v27 only, not for v28. https://github.com/obsproject/obs-websocket/releasesThere's also a obs-websocket AUR package.

@josh Thought so, that does sound like pain. Would have been easier if you could just copy the config files over.

@josh or, hear me out, SWITCH DISTROS! Manjaro -literally- just DELAYS releasing package updates for, and I paraphrase, STABILITY REASONS, which should tell you everything about the devs (hint: they're fucking retarded). The whole setup&install procedure will take a couple hours, most of which will be you restoring things from backups, and you will have a better, more up-to-date, stabler distribution and a not shit Linux experience as a result.

@Dick_Faggotson @josh I was gonna say "Arch/Artix chads win again" but they still have v27 too.

If you don’t get all the latest buggy crud as its piped out, why even use an Arch distro?

Manjaro is the only Linux I've ever used that installs correctly and continues to work. Debian/Ubuntu melts down after a few months of use and Arch doesn't fucking install.

@Sunliver @Dick_Faggotson @josh I mean they still hold stuff back for testing, like the new 5.19 kernel. Arch is still on 5.18.

@josh @Sunliver @Dick_Faggotson using Debian as a desktop basically means you're on sid, which is outside of the officially supported use-case. Rolling release is _THE_ way to run a desktop, and Debian isn't officially rolling release.

@Dick_Faggotson @josh I just did this last night because I couldn't get vfio working under manjaro. There are lots of little stupid problems with manjaro and that was that last straw. Install went very easy if you just follow the directions carefully and check that there wasn't an error afterwards.

@crunklord420 @Dick_Faggotson @Sunliver @josh interesting... I was always under the impression that Arch was always ahead of Gentoo regarding package versions.

@josh @Dick_Faggotson @Sunliver @crunklord420 Nowadays with archinstall you can install Arch in less than 3 minutes. No need to mess around with the wiki.
