       Is #Threema and their new fully Libre version the ultimate secure and private #messaging app?Because other than paying for it I can't really see anything wrong with it compared to Signal or Matrix :blobcatderpy:

       @joel It has the same problem as Signal: you're locked into their server.(At least the Signal server is open source, but you can't run your own and chat with people on the "official" server)

       @tubul at least is their servers and not some AWS thing But yeah I can see that being troublesome but not that big of a compromise

       @greypilgrim it's not wrong but it depends on the payment method. Also it reduces the reach of the app to poorer regions

       @joel You got me curious about it.  I like the fact you can use your own server to store recovery info, and it doesn't need a phone number with it.
