@scoots Well then you would know that masculine terms are considered gender-neutral in spanish. Originally LatinX was used and because of how complicated it was in spelling, not latinx itself but entire sentences replacing neutral words. So then latine started being imposed but it's the same problem. It's neoliberalism to try to colonize an already colonized language if that makes sense. It's my understanding that some indigenous languages were not gendered like Spanish.

@bot latino is a general descriptor because everyone has this image of a mixed race native. But in America, politically anyone from a country of latin origin colonized by Spain is considered latino. So by this definition Ana-Taylor Joy is a latina. Is she a "pee oh cee" ? No she is not. She is a white woman of German descent. This is also why Mexico has a greater population of white people than Central America. This adds to xenophobia and racism against indigenous and Black centams

What I mean about xenophobia towards Central Americans is that we are 100% aware that Mexicans tend to dislike us. It's not only the American border they have to grapple with, but also the Mexican border. There's a reason why latino news channels only show lightskinned individuals in media. And they view Central Americans as indios and Black people in low regard.

Terms like Mestizo, Castizo are colonial.... latino is derived from landino another term. So why would the Spanish be categorizing themselves as different? @bot I'm not "fixated" on race, I'm merely describing the realities of Latinidad and colorism. I wouldn't expect you to understand what it feels like to never see anybody that looks like you in latino media. I grew up hating my hair and straightening it for hours just so that I could fit in with all the other Mexican girls with predominately straight hair, and my best friend told me my hair was nappy. I was racially demeaned by my rapist as a child, who is very well latino/mixed himself.

You can get into the top medical schools in the nation by maintaining middling marks and just applying.
