       Seriously! The London Mayor is trying to ban all BBQs during the summer!!! 🤷‍♀️ I understand banning unsafe portable BBQs in parks and other open spaces. I also think warnings about risks of fires in all spaces including private gardens is sensible. My niece had to help put out a fire in her neighbours garden last weekend.But let's be realistic that many people will safely BBQ on their gas grills. Not all BBQs are the same.

       @juneseed @macha I live in the sub tropics so this confused me, too. Then I read somewhere that the water is too cold, and they could be shocked by the coldness. I don't know if that is true.

       @MandyJane @juneseed Yup. Jumping in cold water can cause shock plus many people don't account for the strong currents and other hazards in open water. I used to live on the coast and there were regular reports of drownings. Mostly tourists but occasionally locals.

It's the same where I live, the rivers are never below "flippin cold," they're okay to swim in but NOT jump in because you'll go into shock.  I think I didn't realize it said "jump" and for some reason thought he said people couldn't swim in them. My Granny just sent me a video of my niece (5 yrs old) swimming/dipping into a local river so I was like, nothin wrong with this haha. But it's true, I think it's just dangerous to jump into water anyways. I always ending up doing a bellyflop no matter how hard I try 😔
