whoa, in the macos screenshot ui, in addition to pressing space to take a screenshot of a particular window, you can then hold the command key to screenshot a particular modally presented window/alert

@selfisekai I think you misunderstand me? I can take a screenshot with a keyboard shortcut too, but this lets you select an alert directly, which usually isn't targettable

@shadowfacts I think there’s other modes too, if you use other modifier keys. It’s how I’ve been able to take marketing-grade screenshots that show modals (screenshot inactive window in background, screenshot modal, overlay them into a single file in Preview)

@brunoph why do you need to overlay them? if you don't hold command, it takes a screenshot of the inactive background window and the modal togeter

@shadowfacts I can't do screenshots on my mac any other way than by touchbar so that was always a pretty obvious option to me

@shadowfacts maybe that’s the case now in recent macOS versions, or maybe I was thinking of alerts/separate windows 🤔
