Also another thing I hate about Gnome and GTK3 and GTK4 in general are CSD (Client Side Decoration) they behave so badly with so many Window Managers and when the compositing is turned off it shows ugly borders unless it is turned off from the GTK config file or something in the home directory. Have you ever seen QT apps or wxWidgets apps behaving this way? no they don't as they are designed to be cross-platform.. Its only the GTK3 and GTK4 apps which behave this way.

I think Vista was one of the first that made this more common and it became a prominent Firefox (4-ish) and Chrome feature.Now it's very common on every system. Then again, so were scrollbars on the outer edge with the resize gadget right below it (Amiga, Mac), yet no X11 toolkit tried to do this. Possible, but not worth the loss of integration.So since a while, Gnome stopped caring. Apparently to "save vertical space", which is a bit ridiculous considering the default themes with their overly generous whitespace.

@RL_Dane @PhenomX6 @safiuddinkhan anything default sucks, but it sucks overall when you can customize anything. Kde is by far the most customizable that I have personally used. There are plenty of other des that are really good to rice up your builds.
