       I wonder how many people turn to #fediverse from #Twitter (#Musk social) and #Weibo (publicizing users' IP address locations), both driven by #fear: the former, further loss of free discourse; the latter, further loss of #privacy; and for both, being harassed for having different opinions (Weibo encourages reporting to stiffle opinions coming from "outsiders"). Instances should keep their users safe from threats (eg. hate speech, state agents, etc.) while maintaining free discourse. #noxp

       However, it remains to be said that the frogs have already been boiled: those freedoms have been erroded slowly for a while now, and people seem to only realize the fact when they are made obvious. Thus, even when we arrive at a safer place like the fediverse, we should still remain alert of the threats (eg. scrapers, demands, etc.), however small they are, to our own freedoms, because only us can protect them. Of course, better realize it late than never, so for the #newcomers, welcome aboard!

       The #Chinese-speaking #fediverse has finally been noticed by English media, and the users are already concerned about the potential negative effects of such exposure.
