UDTADE-First, THANKS FOR ALL THE SUPPORT AND HELP!!!New disk is beautifully fast; the technician sold me an SSD which reading your comments I believe you'll be pleased to hear XDAlso, while it's a little choppy and unreliable, my old disk CAN still be read, so I'm working on salvaging my old files (HURRAY).So, setting up my programs and saving the files will take all day, but only loosing two days of work for a PC breakdown is a miracle. So I'm in one hell of a good mood! Thanks again!!!

@xierra099 I'm really glad to hear that you're able to recover your work. And only losing 2 days of work is a LOT better than years worth! If I may offer one piece of advice going forward, it would be to have at least one backup of your work, just in case another, worse PC failure happens.

@arneyblay Actually as far as work related stuff I would only have lost a month; I actually do backup my most vital folders with some regularity.

@xierra099 good! ssd are more reliable. i hope it was a good brand (wd samsung sandisk etc) ive had issues with crucial ssd drives. sounds like your OS software corrupted because usually when a drive dies, it dies and data isnt recoverable. glad its recoverable! most data is stored in the user folder so just copy that over and your good. good luck!

@xierra099 What a RELIEF!! Super happy to know you'll be able to recover most/all of your hard work. You're right, the feeling of getting something back after it's taken away knows no equal. Also, love the new word "udtade" - an update so exciting and urgent that it's worth three spelling mistakes in a single word because nobody will care XDjk ❤️

@xierra099 I'm glad you can restore your old ssd. I had the same problem many years ago, but I could not save my data on disks. Since then, I have been using the Degoo service - this is a cloud for free 2 TB of memory - although it takes several days to upload from it if the data flies off, but it saved me a couple of years ago when my hard drives were stolen. So I recommend that you try it so that you can always restore your work)

@xierra099 That's really good news! I used to be a computer tech, and knew better, and I still forgot to back up my hard drive. Total failure. I've been where you were a couple of days ago, and know how wonderful a barely readable drive is compared to a completely dead one. As you say, lots of work, but every recovered file is lots of work saved. Good luck with the rest of the salvage.
