@gbrnt @piggo and PE is also fully connected throughout..I remember using one of those solid state relays/triacs to make a "disco light" setup (controlling various incandescents and a set of Christmas tree lamps) in about 1987; good to see they still look the same after all these years 😁

@vfrmedia @gbrnt it's a simple circuit and silly expensive, I reverse engineered it and already have the components for it, all that's missing is making the PCB and to figure out a heatsink...

@piggo @gbrnt those SSRs weren't cheap back then either - I'd "borrowed" the component from my high school and had to return it before I left, although the teacher had turned a blind eye to me having it as he trusted me to be safe with mains electricity and didn't want someone else trying such a project.. I've probably got a circuit for a PWM speed controller (using a cheaper triac) as a PDF from this 1970s book I downloaded a while back 😁

@vfrmedia @gbrnt my pwm isn't actually fast at all, I deliberately set the period to 1 second, so it's easier to see on the LED. The triac circuit wouldn't work for that. It's used with a resistive heating element with very slow response, anyway
