Ever since I registered a business with the Dutch Chambre of Commerce (KvK), I'm being stalked by companies who coldcall me to sell stuff and full on lie about having emailed me or spoken to me. One of them swore she "spoke to my associate the other day." 😅Still, quite bizarre how privacy isn't a thing for the KvK.

@Gina The same thing happens here in India! Not phone calls, but god awful spam SMS and spam emails.

@Gina In Switzerland, some branch of the gov has a form you can fill out to inform them about cold callers (it's illegal under some circumstances here). They say that after enough complaints, they'll sue the companies themselves.I don't know if these lawsuits are actually happening and how effective they are, but it sure works with scaring the hell out of those spammers.

@Gina Is it legal, according to the GDPR to do this?I don't think it is.I have the same issue, but mostly with the email. They just get your data from the official government pages, which have to be public for other reasons, and they spam you to death.I don't think it's legal, since you didn't ask them for commercial emails in the first place.

@loke no but I asked them about the emailaddress and they just gave a generic info@companyname.nl (which I never registrered). I'm at the office so I couldn't really get into it too much, just told her "not interested, byeeee."

@Gina What privacy has to do with public registry? From https://www.kvk.nl/english/about-the-netherlands-chamber-of-commerce/what-information-does-the-dutch-business-register-contain/ "It is a public register, that is consulted millions of times per year." It also lists contact details as one of the things that is public information.Like I said elsewhere, laws usually protect consumers, not businesses. That also means that lot of scammers target businesses.

@Gina I read here: https://blog.iusmentis.com/2019/03/15/kamer-van-koophandel-neemt-maatregelen-tegen-zzp-spam/ that in 2019 they were going to stop selling contact data because the GDPR forbid it. But maybe those stalkers scaped data from the KvK website (or from your personal website). @Gina Last time someone tried to sell me things on the phone, asked me if I agree to be recorded and I said "no", after couple of quiet seconds he overcame the shock and said "in such case we must end this call immediately". That was fun.
