@martijnbraam Pretty cool! On the software side, this sounds a lot like LAVA (https://www.lavasoftware.org/index.html) though

@awai it is yes, I tried running lava but found that there were quite a lot of problems with deploying that, and it doesn't solve the hardware problems of phones. All the "magic" of lava is not in the lava codebase but in the device configuration files we'd have to recreate anyway and I'm rather not dealing with using jinja2 templates as a cascading configuration format...

@martijnbraam Definitely, but I can see an advantage to having device config files for lava: being able to re-use them on different instances. For example, I could probably convince Collabora to add a PP(P) or 2 to our existing lava lab.

@martijnbraam of course, that's just an idea I had and wanted to share, I won't mind much if you go for a custom system ;)

@awai I think having the config files is great, it's just that I dislike the way it is implemented in lava. I think the system would be a lot simpler if the central controller did not deal at all with how physical hardware works. That's why my central controller still has the cascading configuration because it's pretty important to make this usable.

@martijnbraam Bless you for diving so deep into the cursed recesses of computers.
