       90% through Stand on Zanzibar & once again shocker/surprised/aghast that William Gibson was *not* the one to introduce voodoo to cyberpunk.Which ought be zero shock because holy fuck this whole damned book is clearly what made & was & became cyberpunk in every way, so so so far ahead.But wow, in it's hop-skips around, covering the genre superbly, damn, to see this one thread, what felt like a distinct twist & flavor... it changes everything that came after. Totally.

       @drwho i had 0 idea what i was in for, but Bruce Sterling showing up for the intro being like- this is the most titanous book to rule everything, it's colossal, stunning, jagged & wild- I was like, ok, if Sterling says that, well, then this is gonna be some shit.some of it is a little slow paced, the direction is unclear. but purely on Sterling's intro alone I was like, fine, I'm ready for it. all good.pay-off has been huge. wow.
