       that's why I have mostly stopped using pirated software and use FOSS and free software instead... the software cracks are unreliable and probably also full of malware in many cases.

       @safiuddinkhan just to be clear, the same, to a very small extent, also happens in FOSS community. there are many examples of malicious pypi and npm packages for example.the reliability of cracks also depends on their source, and there are also FOSS crack tools such as MAS (Microsoft Activation Scripts). but it's better to run them on vms first to be safe.

       @safiuddinkhan My first software developer job out of college was with a small car dealership.  I found out that all of the computers were using a cracked version of Windows XP.  I asked if they had any anti-virus and they did not.  I quickly started running different malware/virus scans on my box and it was riddled with it.  Our web server also had it (also running on cracked XP), so during my first week, I had to convince the owner to spend $10,000 on new computers because they were so bad

       Agreed at least the last hwgen I used was open source and on GitHub  so you could inspect the code.
