ThreadWant to hear a funny story?It starts a bit like this video starts, i.e., two guys with a sign a bit like this.In my case it was a mall in NZ.The sign read a bit differently to this one.It was a similar image, except the sign read "Make this guy laugh and win $5" along with an arrow to the other guy, the presumed stone face champion.I told my son what my idea was, which was he was to wait for my signal and do a certain thing.https://youtu.be/itoNXCMp3O0

A little while later, we were in the food court, having executed a rendezvous with my wife and daughter, when the group reappeared.I looked at my son and this time he committed. Without a word, we approached the two, my son in front of the guy with the sign and me in front of the stone faced Resister of Laughter.I asked the guy with the sign and the mic, "does this include physical humour?"He asked if I meant touching the Stonefaced King.I said "nothing of the sort."

Mr Sign looked at me and my son and made a choice. I think he expected the physical humour to be something between me and my son. In any case, he set me up perfectly by simply saying "Sure."I looked down at my son, pointed at the guy holding the sign, and said loudly:"Punch HIM in the nuts!"

I immediately turn to look at Stoneface.A highly unwelcome, but evidently delighted, smile twisted his face.The guy with the sign and the gaggle of cellphone video people let out a laugh.It was at this point that my wife and daughter turned around to see what the noise was about. The guy with the sign inspected the Stoneface's rictus and declared it a victory. We had moved him closer to the line than anyones else that morning.

At that moment, my son squeezed my arm, hard, and said under his breath "You are the best dad in the whole world." I am rarely the recipient of the full firehose of his love and approval. He is 12 now and doles out his love in smaller amounts these days. But for a moment, his utter delight at being a part of a successful improv skit that got some of the cool kids to laugh and celebrate his role in it was almost overwhelming his feel good circuits.

It was a hugely satisfying father and son moment.And it was really funny too. My son makes many attempts at humour. Most of which fail in every way, except for a remarkable ability to get successfully in trouble. A number, however, are sufficiently funny that he can extricate himself from near-doom. He walks a fine line.

So when he gets to be a part of a big laugh, and be seen by his mum and sister to be a part of an elaborate adult joke, it was seriously satisfying for him. People wandered in w/ no means & that was where the cops took them. A biker group took turns policing the campground.Good food, great preaching & no troubles ever.I wore all essential clothing items.I saw rough looking sweeties get saved there though. God's Love is for all.
