TIL: there is now Akkoma, a fork of Pleroma with less focus on "free speech" and more on "free software".https://coffee-and-dreams.uk/development/2022/06/24/akkoma.html

To clarify, @wim_v12e, those foci are of the maintainers, not the software themselves. Akkoma, Pleroma, Mastodon, Misskey, etc. are pretty much equivalent regarding freedom of speech (in quotation or not) and software freedom. As an user, the only change I noticed was that the Akko front-end can render discussion trees and support custom image reactions.(In case you are out the loop, there’s been a drama between extreme masto and plero instances since forever, last thing I want is another tween plero and akko.)

@cnx > discussion treesnoice, i didn't notice thisI can add MFM rendering and three column layout to the list though. I think the main column behaves a bit different from before too, which is more noticeable on mobile@wim_v12e
