Funny thing about this book, is that it only has a relatively brief amount of text related to his particular swordcraft. Most the the book is on philosophic matters. Here, Musashi outlines the "gimmick" of his school as it were.

This in particular reminded me, that although this caste system became pretty rock solid, it's introduction minted a quasi caste in and of itself via the legacy Ashigaru of the Warring period. These semi professional soldiers were essentially subsumed into being the lowest form of Samurai. A bit of an upgrade in some cases and a downgrade in others.
