@AnungIkwe I feel like it's rarely the people who identify strongly with a particular ideology who turn out to be violent. Rather, it's the weak-minded who *want* to ingratiate themselves into a group who are secretly the most malevolent. Ie: the activists, the whinners, the "allies." Usually, when people find a community they prefer to be left alone.

@AnungIkwe @sunspot @colinsmatt11 He had national name recognition and was a known entity however. Those two factors likely carried him over the line in a crowded field with too many nationally unknowns. There were the people who liked him from Obama's terms and the people who didn't mind him from Obama's terms. The Dems don't really have anyone like that right now nor do they have someone charismatic like Obama. But who knows, 2 years is a long time.
