The more I deal with #kubernetes the more I yearn for #hashicorp #nomad again. πIt's not like I don't understand the orchestrator. I very much do. Enough to have written my own scheduler π for it. But dammit do I hate how much you have to do to get the smallest goals done.Meanwhile in nomad, you get to actually work on the job. π€― Not the orchestrator. Cluster management is almost nonexistent. Even self hosted.Remind me again, how did #Google fool everyone to use #k8s again? π€

@zeab exactly my feelings.I make a living out of #kubernetes but the immense complexity of it all never stops to overwhelm. There are for sure tradeoffs that come from using #nomad but those tradeoffs are definitely way cheaper than what you get when you run k8s

@mongrelion completely. At my prior job, I had the luxury of deciding which to use for their needs. I went with #nomad. Best darn decision I did. π Was able to accomplish so much without being hampered by the job orchestrator. Now I'm back in the kubernetes world and remember all the reasons why it's terrible. β οΈ Managed #k8s doesn't change the workload as much people assume. the day to day of fiddling with k8s is the pain point.

@zeab awesome that you could decide to use #Nomad.I'm definitely looking for the next customer that needs to make a decision on orchestration so that I can recommend Nomad because the ease of use, maintenance and learning curve is just way nicer than that of #k8s, hands down. It's true that with k8s you do get a lot out of the box and that with nomad you have these building blocks (#vault, #consul, etc) but each building block is neatly documented and is easy to learn, as opposted to k8s
