@xianc78 @josh REEEdit and Discucked both killed the forum culture.I remember seeing things like "please join our Discucked chatroom", thinking it was just an option, only to have it ended up being the only active place while the forum itself was rendered irrelevant.Many forums ended up closing in favor of Discucked.I warned about it back in 2015~2018, and only 2 forum admins actually listened, the one no longer exists because the community members threw the forum admins under the bus by creating a Discucked chatroom behind her back as she implemented rules against promoting Discucked invite links.And the other still exists, but even the owner has bent the knee, and is considering to shut his forum down.

As for chatrooms, just go to any popular IRC server and they will let you create a channel and you can embed it on your site. In fact, prior to Discord, IRC was actually making a small comeback via web-clients.

@dave @josh Plaintiff's Bar for one. Employers are afraid of civil rights suits. They'll can anyone who could potentially bring an allegation, and the employers themselves zip their lips. Second, public contract law, which often requires that the business, or subs, to "not discriminate" as a contractual provision in the public contract. Again, allegations are sufficient to scare businesses. I really believe that discrimination law for all it's alleged benefits was either intended, or has grown, to unduly burden free speech. I don't believe it's merely the decisions of private employers. It's the decision of employers who are coerced by existing law. I think state action can extend into private decisions where state law coerces the decision, and the doctrine needs to be revisited.
