I work on a team that uses tech built by someone who built things that made sense to their brain when they made it, but wasn't designed to be understood by them or anyone else, easily after the fact.My team is 6 really smart people but none of them have trained to be software designers or architects. It's very difficult to sort out how best to go about redesigning or rebuilding without repeating the same problems.Does anyone have any suggestions on anything to read or watch that would help?

@neauoire lol that would require convincing the new execs they bought something that requires a total overhaul and my boss doesn't want us to admit that, I think, because they might decide to cut the entire department

@dualhammers it's a sort of Sybeline Books situation, you either pay upfront to solve this issue, or you'll PAY for this issue while the not-so-much-software-developers-but-smart become actual software-developers.

@neauoire correct! And turns out the way capitalists calculate profitability of a company makes the latter look better on paper since it's a known, quantifiable, cost
