When you think about it, at a very basic level... a man has instincts to protect and provide for his wife. But these instincts are largely being subverted by the state... to protect and provide for the state. It's a strange thing to ponder.

@sim if I met a nice woman I would hope they protect me as well because I'm sensitive.

@iceloops I think it can be a womanly thing to help build her husband up. I think that women may often not realise the importance they have for their husband here, they can really help to build his confidence as a man or undermine it in front of others or just in their relationship. But at the same time, a man has to be worthy of that. This is not an excuse to be abusive on either side.

@sim I compared Justin Trudeau to a cuckold for what he was doing to Canada. I lost a friend that day when he blew up over the term being "alt right" instead of trying to refute my analogy

@Leyonhjelm @iceloops I agree with this. A part of marriage is about building each other up.

@Leyonhjelm That is sad that you lost a friend over the term. What did you say? Interesting to think of it that way.

@sim I said (several years back) that watching Trudeau put Canada last in his priorities is like watching a willing cuckold invite others to have sex with his wife, and then made an analogy between the head of a government being like the kind of relationship with the nation that a man has with his wife, where the job specifically involves putting her first and protecting her against exactly what he was doing.

@Leyonhjelm Lmao. I can see why your friend got upset about that. But it's not entirely wrong, is it?

@sim That's why it's an effective comparison. The funny thing is he's American and the flip-out was pretty uncharacteristic. But I lost a lot of respect for him that day. We interacted several times after that but it was clear we weren't going to get along the same way. I respected him less for being incapable of separating the comparison from his political prejudices, and he respected me less because he jumped to conclusions about me.

@sim @colinsmatt11 it really depends on people. those who constantly chase after stimulus would consider marriage as the funeral of love, yet for those who prefer a stable and tranquil life, marriage could be the foundation to build up this achievable fantasy.
