@dave @verita84 Mass shootings are not a technological phenomenon, they're a cultural one caused by constant hysterical media coverage applied to a population of millions. This is going to be discussed in the same manner and will be used as an example to follow by a similar pool of people. It doesn't take any skill to make this gun, just motivation.

It seems like you're trying to say that Japan has more incels than other countries and that # of incels ought correlate to gun deaths? You're right, I wasn't being clear at all. Basically, when you look into the background of most of our mass shooters, they're angry and lacking in empathy and all that...but they're also usually not really good at anything. Like, they're just failures.Take away easy access to pre-manufactured guns, and those people don't go on mass shootings, and instead lash out in some other (probably less harmful) way.To be clear, I am not in favor of more gun control, quite the opposite. But I do have to acknowledge that easy access to guns is one of the key parts that enables these mass shooting events.

- Abe was killed with a gun- This is very shocking not only because he was killed, but because guns just aren't a thing in Japan. Some of the Yakuza have them, but they're (usually) not dumb enough to actually use them, or even bring them out in public, because of how illegal they are- The comment I posted is saying that, to prevent mass shootings, he wishes guns were as hard to get here as they are in Japan, and he's pre-empting an imagined objection that the incel types that go on mass shootings would just make their own guns, because it takes a lot more skill and resourcefulness to build a reliable rifle than it does to tape a couple pipes to a piece of wood.
