Little surprise the child that parents itself ends up lostâŚ.leave it to the most selfish fuck in the funny pages to undo years of personal failure with one simple, short moment of callousness. Iâve seen this pattern. They LOVE thinking that the big gesture will fix things, that all they need is to kick their teen son out of the house and heâll somehow become just like they were in their teens (you know, in the 70âs, in a 7-child family that always went to church) because their kid is forced to sink or swim. Theyâre genuinely surprised when the captivity-bred, untrained child sinks.

The brief, 3 minute interval where all they have to do is press the big red button and it makes up for all their years of errors. I have a buddy who literally got disowned under this very logic. The worst I heard was that they gave the tantrum girl 3 full do-over rides and when she botched her most recent while about 400 ft off the ground and they said âyouâll have to go around, you missed your approachâ she immediately started throwing a fit, shoving the yoke away from her and caterwauling about how itâs never good enough and theyâre too picky. All told to me 2nd hand, but they only had a couple girls in the unit and they were on the shit list for being a âboysâ clubâ. I think she eventually went into some stupid investigator role as an âexpertâ on the aircraft they trained her on., since they couldnât find a flight position for her.

He acknowledges the world he grew up in gave him opportunities we don't have and he doesn't like that. He's never really suffered hardship as a result of circumstance rather than his own poor actions and became rich despite them just from choosing a good degree and not wasting his money. I think he doesn't realize just how bad the world is because of his insulation. I'm grateful that he isn't the kind of condescending boomer who actively ruins the life of their children (he was abusive apparently but did repent), I didn't even realize how bad boomers really were until later, because I hadn't seen it from my family, who I believe are largely good people who support each other. It makes me worried if collapse will tear them apart, how strong are their bonds, really?

@WashedOutGundamPilot @branman65 @Frosche @Shadowman311 one of the biggest problems is that the majority of the "gifted" kids were put in there because the stand school work was too easy, but the gifted programs were supposed to challenge them instead just gave them empty praise. i was put through the gifted classes since elementary and it was always the most boring work they gave us like memorizing all the nations of the world etc. i remember an entire week that we called "cripple" week where we had to randomly pick a disability out of a hat and we had it for the entire day, this was further back than you would think. i did not like about 98% of all the gifted kids i came across and looking back on it i would describe it as a sort of proto reddit experience that just pumped up kids egos with nothing to back it. the problem is that public schooling has been trash for the entirety of the post ww2 era and if you arent average school will be boring at best.

@MachineMadeDog I lucked out in that we never really went to good schools until later, we were at shitty ones most of the time, so I was a sort of teacherâs pet. Seems like every year theyâd complain that I was finishing everything too soon and Iâd end up helping them out, even making the tests sometimes since they had a willing free worker. Those silly reading tests on books got so much work from me, it was wild. You donât suddenly reexamine your whole worldview every time you see a sad Jew on tv talk about it, although presumably if you did encounter compelling evidence in that direction you would carefully examine it to ensure that youâre not wrong. Youâve weighed the probabilities and youâre willing to call yourself a holocaust denier because it just doesnât seem like there even could be evidence sufficient to overturn the weight of what you have already seen and evaluated. Try questioning religion, and see where you go. If it helps, the Jews hate Jesus.

Honestly, The Holocaust only could have happened in defiance of natural law-that is, by a miracle. I don't think a miracle took place, though it's an interesting thought experiment, the idea that the holocaust was divine punishment for their misdeeds, as some Jewish sects believe. I haven't found anything that makes me believe that Christianity, or any religion, is objectively more true than other religions. I don't know what "correct beliefs" are when it comes to faith, so I don't feel comfortable taking that leap in any direction. I am aware that this is the wrong way of thinking about faith, the whole point is belief despite a lack of hard evidence-though you appear to be suggesting the opposite, which is not what I expected.I wouldn't say I'm a le skeptic because I'm like 99% sure that souls and the supernatural exist. All of my beliefs regarding the supernatural could exist within many different religious frameworks.Jews hate Jesus, but I don't know if that means Jesus was divine, Jews hate a lot of things, my heuristic is if Jews hate it, it's probably a good thing, therefore Jesus is/was good.

Christians should believe in Christianity because it's true, not because they threw a dart and happened to hit Christianity instead of some other religion. I'm sure you do believe in objectively true moral claims, because most people do (even if a very short list). Most people think that raping a child is wrong, objectively, which means that Islam is by default incorrect. Most people believe that reality includes good bits, which means that the Buddhist concept of existence as suffering is incorrect. Most people don't actually hold utilitarian positions, because while they might agree to murder an infant if a terrorist was holding a city to ransom, they would say it is the lesser evil rather than a good action. I'm sure you can consider your own moral beliefs and narrow down your options a fair bit. You can also look at the truth claims of a religion in order to assess it. Most cults rest on the trustworthiness of a figure who has made verifiable prophecies that have turned out to be incorrect, so you can dismiss them. (Contrast this with the Bible, which contains many fulfilled prophecies). You can absolutely evaluate religions meaningfully, and it's possibly the most meaningful evaluation you ever do.
