The lgbtqa wiki tries SO hard to differentiate ‘valid’ identities like little headspaces, young alters, otherkin, etc from ‘impure/bad’ paraphilias like zoophilia and pedophilia. It’s so obvious people are frightened of acknowledging the inter lapping parts of trauma, identity and sexual feelings. It’s incredibly frustrating to see our identities continuously excluded because we are promptly branded as abusive, harmful and bad.

@thekindsadist No, I saw two people arguing on discord and one of them said "fictosexual is paraphilia" and the other one said "no, it's sexual orientation, don't compare it to something so harmful like paraphilia" and while the other one decided to cut out with "you don't know what's paraphilia and I don't want to argue in general" I was then like "??? huh?" Also there's also this??? And also pokesexual which also makes me icky because "attraction to humanoid pokemons is okay but pokemons that look like animals is zoophilia" I'M CONFUSED?And I know what I'm saying doesn't make sense, now I'm kinda rambling my frustration out honestly

@PureEmojis yes, agreed with your point!! They classify paraphilias as essentially mental illnesses where as the actual definition is undetermined (as seen here) seems to me like the people writing/running that wiki are incredibly biased about sexual attractions and want to classify some attractions normal and some abnormal. Ugh. It’s frustrating. If you are leading a community, it’s (imo) inappropriate to be biased and exclusionary. You can’t let your own ‘right/wrong’ beliefs creep into a space that serves to be inclusive and educational. It’s unprofessional.

@PureEmojis and obviously as you pointed out - even people within communities are continuing to say what is right and wrong and who should be excluded or not.

@thekindsadist I don't like how people always want to keep everything "pure". Like, the sittuation with male lesbians / lesboys and mspec lesbians, you know, how they want to keep lesbians pure from ANY attraction to men, even if they're like... genderfluid or bigender which isn't the same as cis men, the same people want to keep pure from paraphilias. May be weird connection but I honestly feel like this connection has the right to exist

@thekindsadist Don't get me started on the otherkin and therian community trying to completely separate zoophilia from otherkinity/therianopathy - trying to pretend that they are completely different things makes absolutely no sense. If you feel a strong identification with lions for example, if you wish you were physically a lion, etc. doesn't that naturally imply that you will probably find lions sexually/romantically attractive to some extent? And this zoophilia exclusion becomes even more ridiculous when it comes to attraction towards fictional species, and species which do not exist on earth. Such as dragons and gryphons. These are often depicted as having human-level intelligence, and if they lived alongside humans they would have the upper-hand when it comes to power in a relationship, so any issues of consent/power imbalance that applies to earth animals do not apply to them. Yet they still treat attraction towards dragons/gryphons as some unusual and horrible thing? How??There was actually an online otherkin convention which stated in its rules that zoophiles were not welcome to attend the event. How... how can they be serious? Do they not realize how much of their attendees they are talking about? As someone with a strong identification with dragons and large lizards, I sure as hell find them attractive and that should almost go without saying. Others like me should stop playing into the zoophilia outrage and actually be honest about who they are.

@Azraeil THIS 👏 100% this. When I first started finding otherkin and kink communities online and began to express and question my own identity and attractions I found it so disheartening that important crucial parts of my own self were demonized and shunned.I thought it was obvious that people who identified as/with animals and desired to be close to them, would obviously also have romantic/spiritual/sexual attractions to them? Of course this isn’t always true or necessary, but it is absolutely ridiculous to imply that people wouldn’t have these sorts of feelings. This was heartbreaking for me as a teenager, so I ended up finding zoo communities that unfortunately really fetishized my own attractions.Neither were healthy and truly what I needed as a struggling kid, but now as an adult I can see how these spaces continue to exclude and not acknowledge the fact people identify with such attractions (example in the otherkin convention banning zoophiles, which I had seen and yes agree it’s absolutely ridiculous to enforce. There goes MOST if not ALL of your community. And we are just talking about the ones who have enough strength and support to actively be out about said attractions. What about all the ones who are too terrified of the backlash to talk to their community about their feelings? How are we ever going to have a space where people actually feel welcomed and safe and allows them to explore their feelings in non harming ways, if all they continue to do is pick and choose who is allowed to exist inside of the perimeters and not? Doesn’t that just perpetuate more people hurting, lost, angry and lonely? Seems pretty backwards in the ideals these communities want to uphold.
