       @thenewoil If Signal is not already compromised by this and other government assaults on encryption around the world, we should expect it to be soon. Do not expect to see an announcement when it is. Start using XMPP, Matrix, or other decentralized coms that are resilient to government enforced back doors.

       @thenewoil Yes the foundation is in the UK. If you have an account on matrix.org, it could be affected.I am unclear how the gov could affect the protocol and its many implementations and instances. I am running my own instance at my house using Conduit implementation. Someone would have to come to my house with a search warrant.

       @thenewoil @bit_tyrant_resistor Can't you choose servers outside of the main ? I know you can for XMPP but never checked for Matrix.

       @PublicLewdness @thenewoil That is right. The foundation in the UK runs matrix.org server and another runs vector nameserver. You or somebody can run your own homeserver and even your own nameserver. In practice, Matrix has not been very decentralized with so many people using matrix.org server, but I think that is improving. XMPP is much more decentralized in practice with thousands of servers out there. I encourage you to run either/both using yunohost.org.
