@Gina to add to the other answers, if the battery is more than 5 or 6 years old, it's probably end of life and needs replaced. Unfortunately that's a semi big ticket item (usually retails around $150 in the States)

@Gina Ugh, that sucks. 🚙 🤬 I’m assuming it’s either the alternator or the battery. If it’s the battery a boost might get you started and running long enough to get over to a mechanic, but I believe if it’s the alternator it’s not going anywhere.

@GinaIt seems to be just the battery. If you haven't replaced it in the last 5 years it may be tired and need replacement. Otherwise, it can be charged, but every time it discharges completely harms its lifespan. No need to call roadside assistance imho, a new battery can be bought for half the price and installed with just a wrench.@pim

@Gina The site I just looked at had it at $325-$418 USD, but I’m not sure if that includes labour. According to the following linked article, the radio not turning on is typically the battery, whereas dim headlights point to the alternator. It’s possible that your alternator isn’t charging the battery enough and that’s causing the power loss.
