@jordan31 ehehe... a little bit of water 'stealing'... an interesting approach... short-term though -especially since it's almost for free falling from the sky (that's the aim for washing hands, storing for plants, bathing in etc:)any more sneaky / non-sneaky ways?

@freeschool without a system of pipes to direct the water, no. You’re only other option would be to just put a bucket out in the open or under the overhang of your roof. I’d like to see others responses. Though, I’m assuming you’re wanting to collect from a roof since you mentioned gutters. If you got a steady stream somewhere you could try a ramjet. Or digging trenches and a small pool to collect water. But that couldn’t be used for anything other than plants and maybe animals.

@jordan31 Guess trenches and then industrial plastic lining - like an artificial stream (would be waste of ground but hmm kinda achieves and could manage that quite easily... even make a small dam etc!Yeah buck under fills well actually nuder existing steams / roofing. But a discrete mini-stream... hmmm

@jordan31 Guess a long trench could be good and then industrial plastic lining to keep it fairly watertight (even strongest stuff might get holes from plants though) - but I like the artificial stream idea (would be waste of ground but something thinner or even mini-river ! hmm kinda achieves and could manage that quite easily... even make a small dam etc! Could be a bucket width and bucket deep...Yeah also bucket under existing steams / roofing work really well (need bucket under but yeah!).But a discrete mini-river... hmmm

@freeschool it would have to be big enough to hold enough water accounting for evaporation.

@jordan31 Not sure I would calculate evaporation since I'd be taking it quickly and would always be someone who could make use. guess keeping the water there is something and stopping it getting too algae and pond like... which might still be useable for dishes... hmm
