I'm thinking of buying one to replace my current Thinkpad X1.

@codewiz It looks nice. A touch out of my price range for what I'd want, though. I'd also ask about a blank drive rather than their offerings of OS.

@codewiz A good alternative is https://minifree.org/product/libre-t440p/ but not the same size factor, weight and performance as X1.

@codewiz The new HP devel laptop with AMD CPU is nice, just has no coreboot.

@codewiz there's a lot of hype out there for PopOS but I'm just not a fan, personally.

@PoCampo I will just move my NVMe drive (and expect it to boot with UEFI even on a Coreboot machine).

Trying to decide on the processor for the #System76 Lemur Pro, but oddly the i5-1235U has a higher "CPU Mark" score than the i7-1255U:https://www.cpubenchmark.net/compare/Intel-i5-1235U-vs-Intel-i7-1255U/4765vs4794@system76, this can't be correct, right?

The same "performance inversion" is reported also for the higher TDP Alder Lake CPUs used by the Thinkpad X1G10 🤔https://www.cpubenchmark.net/compare/Intel-i5-1240P-vs-Intel-i7-1260P/4759vs4707@system76 #system76

This article blames the bad performance of the i7 on the high TDP, but it mostly covers the Alder Lake-P, whereas the Lemur Pro uses the ultra low-power U-series.https://www.notebookcheck.net/Core-i5-beats-Core-i7-Alder-Lake-P-creates-problems-for-manufacturers-and-customers.621251.0.html@system76

@codewiz @system76 oh yeah, I forgot this thread but my first instinct upon reading it was TDP indeedIntel is just doing terribly since 10th gen :blobcatderpy:
