       We have been conditioned by corporate news media and proprietary social media to react and comment to every sensational headline, every controversial news story immediately. Outrage boosts engagement, which brings in more money for these companies. Don’t play their game. And don’t feel like you have to do that here in the #fediverse. Sometimes - I daresay most of the time - the best thing to do is take time to process, understand, learn, and think before you say anything.

       @dallin Again always thinking the news is out to get us. If news companies had an agenda, then how would they coordinate that across hundreds of different organizations with different investors and different audiences? And what even is proprietary social media? All media is owned by somebody. Scaremongering about oooh scary media is one of the only reasons I ever have to get loud.
