@crisp TBH the birth rates *are* lower. It's just probably because people don't wanna give birth to a child when they're struggling through a pandemic.

@crisp No lies here that I can see, charts are always displayed that way for effect when convincing someone. This would bring Germany's birth rate down to about 1.4-1.5, which is rather bad.

@crisp If you see a given chart on television or a news article 9/10 times it isn't going to have an axis at 0 regardless of topic, it's a cultural norm when communicating.

@crisp It actually looks accurate. The births in 2022 so far seem to be about 10 to 15% less than last year. The chart's scale does not begin at 0 which may be why you think it is the lie. Thank you friend.

@bebe @crisp one time I got into a stupid argument with an irl woman about freezing temperatures stunting bacterial growth. For whatever reason, she was absolutely adamant that freezing temperatures did not stop bacteria.She literally went to the CDC's website, found an article related to the subject, did not read it, printed it out, still did not read it, handed the stack of papers to me and said "here, educate yourself". Contained in the very first paragraph was "freezing effectively stops bacterial growth from occurring". I read this to her and she still did not believe me. That was my wakeup moment for debates being pointless.
