@RTP Oh this is really frickin cool, thanks for sharing. Btw I just got an original OEM Samsung J7 battery for the pinephone original, so crossing my fingers its charging right now for the first time. I'm hoping it has a longer life than the stock battery, or this chinese aftermarket battery that I got that discharges faster than the stock one that came with it.

@nerdtronics@mstdn.starnix.net Agree, great stuff on Lup's github.. 😃 I have been considering that J7 battery backup myself. It's great/convenient to have such an easy to find battery backup for Pinephone. My only hesitancy thus far was reading some people mentioning need to slightly 'modify' to fit... This video demonstrates EB-BJ700CBE model battery.https://youtu.be/RVrm0LFHdi8

@RTP I have bought two J7 batteries. One I needed to modify but the other was good to go.

@RTP i don't know mich about pine but what i've seen so far is very intruiging. thinking about the future of pine will their soft and hardware become part of the chinese authoritarian surveillance behemoth? Are there any plans vor even consciousness for preventing this?

@dvs808 IMO, I see Hardware risk similar for companies (sharing supply chains).Pine64 designs + makes hardware only, keeps prices affordable for users (w/can report bugs), + dev's who w/to see Linux phones.Pinephone apps share code w/Linux desktop / server apps (compiled for Arm).In FOSS, there always potential for ppl to attempt introduce 'bugs' to open source projects. Universal danger, applying to all 'submission' volunteer projects, like Linux kernel attempt: https://lwn.net/Articles/57135/
