@david you know, I’ve never actually listened to an audio book. Which is strange as I listen to a lot of podcasts.

@kev once you have read the next 3. Id recommend the series Expeditionary Force by Craig Alanson. And I would VERY much recommend the audio book version as R C Bray is an amazing reader. It does get a bit meh during parts of the books, but overall a great story. Warning: there are 14+ out so far, and they are not short either!

@ticoombs blimey, that’s a commitment! I’ve got the Witcher series on my list too, which seems similar in volume.

@kev yeah. But I would recommend it over The Witcher if you prefer space battles, Artificial Beings, and humans fighting aliens. And audiobooks make it seem faster and easier to smash the books out.(Forewarning, I cant remember if I said already , but each one is ~15-20hours long so not a quick read either! But honestly well worth it)

@ticoombs I was saying to someone else earlier; I’ve never actually listened to an audiobook. I love podcasts, so not sure why I’ve never tried them.

@kev 😊 wish I could find a crowd sourced goodreads alternative. The bookwyrm instances I've tried usually don't have books I'm looking up. Want more of a database than the social aspect since Mastodon ha dles the social.

@adamsdesk GoodReads is like YouTube (unfortunately) there’s just no real replacement for it.

@adamsdesk but, isn't bookwyrm crowdsourced? I can always import books from other instances and/or from public databases when they are not available on my instance...

@joel Yes it is. Most of the time fore the book is not found. Oh? I was not aware of being able to import from another source.

@adamsdesk probably, besides other instances it also supports Open library, Inventairé and I think there maybe plugins/options to add other sources, depending on the instance

@adamsdesk well, I think bookwyrm.social is enough for most, I don't see a ton of differences between each other than maybe language
