I'm really tempted to delete all my code from GitHub, and each time a company asks me for code to see if I'm qualified, share another link (SourceHut or Codeberg would be my choices)...

@dsfgs I really hate that Microsoft owns GitHub, because as a platform it wasn't that bad...Nevertheless, I'll keep my code on SourceHut and Codeberg from now on :comfy:

@Suiseiseki @captainepoch it's not about the "non-free" or "free" bullshit. Github always sucked due to poor UI and UX practices and due to how utterly unreliable their service is at times.

@gerhardbeck I don't really have that much there, you can check if if you want (same handle as here or sourcehut).I'm using SourceHut as my main git host right know, and am very happy with my decission :comfy:

@captainepoch Any company worth working for won't care if you use a different forge than GitHub. It's been a while since I actually used GitHub - I've been hosting my own forge (originally Gitea, now cgit) and I have not had issues.

@robby I've been asking by a couple of companies, while applying for a job and doing the technical test, that my code must be on GitHub. Literally.Not every company is like that. I'd love to say "here, I don't use GitHub, but you can grab the code from here <insert link to SourceHut>". I hope, in the near future, that I can do that :comfy:
