       So I've been thinking about ending my friendship with my oldest living friend. We've known each other since high school. He's so self involved, he's almost incapable of taking an interest in anything else but himself and his hypochondria.Maybe this makes me an asshole but the guy has been making 6-figures for decades, and he has no real expenses like a big family and a giant mortgage, and when I mentioned my GoFundMe to him, he was just like, "Hey, good luck with that..."He's tone deaf.

       @m0lly That's what I thought friendship meant. But he's so... I don't even know what word I'd use other than self-involved. He occasionally talks about all the money he has in the bank and how he wants to fund a business or something someday when he retires, so I know he's flush with cash. And I'm not expecting a gigantic donation but just something to show he's paying attention and he cares.

       @Ricardus Yeah, that's crazy. You'd think as a friend... I mean, I only know you from Mastodon/sdf and I would have given to your fund if I had any money, but I only survive on food stamps and a carefully written trust.

       @Devils_Rancher I have MAGA brothers so that's difficult enough to navigate. Thankfully no close friends have come out as MAGA.But yeah, dude has tons of money and he hasn't donated a dime. It's kinda hurtful actually.
