Yet another gravel ride. This time mostly through the western part of the Utrecht Ridge which consists of small gravel roads through the forest. A hot day but the trees provided plenty of shade.#cycling

@ericbuijs @kinetix I did. I even visited a new tourist watchtower in my area. The view is spectacular.

@ericbuijs All of my bike rides since the end of April have been road rides with the cycling club, bike commutes or errands. I need to find time to go on gravel routes.A few times with the club, we've crossed gravel paths and I've looked at them longingly. 😁 But it's not polite to abandon the group you're riding with (who all ride road bikes with 23 or 25mm tires) to go on your own...

@normandc Perhaps you can convince the group to do a light gravel ride as an experiment. I've seen people doing it on road bikes. I know I was sold after my first gravel ride. Being surrounded by nature, without cars is both peaceful and exciting.

@FreePietje De Fietsersbond is prima voor het vinden van tochten. Ik maak ook gebruik van Komoot als ik met GPS fiets en een leuke route zoek.

@ericbuijs Gebruik je hun eigen app?Kon het niet vinden in f-droid, maar vond wel GraphHopper welke kennelijk een component van Komoot gebruikt (photon).

@ericbuijsAh, thanks.Dan kan ik het ook gebruiken 🙂 Ik dacht dat je het gebruikte om onderweg spontaan een route/detour te maken en op hun site zag ik direct een Android/IOS app. En dus dacht ik dat het om een mobiele app ging.

@ericbuijs I'm afraid not. A few times so far this year, we've had to go over some unpaved portions of roads being repaired, temporarily covered with gravel. They drop their speed like to 25%, unclip one shoe, and go over the gravel gingerly, hoping for their misery to end.Meanwhile I zip by all of them, having actually accelerated. 😂
