I personally don't mind bloat. Where it's justified.I can do a lot of stuff in Python quickly that would take me months to do in C. Why would I reject that? It's good. Even if it's bloaty.Same goes for the web. CSS is not a bad idea. But when your website requires heavy Javascript to load because you decided it was a good idea to use Google Amp for whatever fucked up reason, or cloudflare decides to lock me out behind a captcha because it thinks that my browser is not a browser and I'm a bot, you can go fuck yourself.Use bloat, but reasonably.

@enigmatico You have some really weird definition of what bloat is.No one is saying that using python, including with a reasonable amount of dependencies (ie. 10 max) is bloat.

@lispi314 @enigmatico C is an pretty meh language and on the unix side of things it's full of mistakes and antique crap.Like the POSIX math library is a mess because of things before two's complement being the only standard and I wouldn't be surprised to also see some things explained by IEEE floats being too recent compared to Unix.(C++ has even more mistakes though, every group of C++ programmer does their own "C++ the good parts")As for python…No one tends to write nicely optimised python code anyway, it just needs to be fast enough.At this point you don't just need a good compiler, you'll end up having to rewrite a lot of librairies, so might as well just use another language, say Elixir, Go, …

@lanodan @enigmatico I concur. Also Cloudflare isn't bloat because it's not a CDN, it's just DNS protection. If anything, it REDUCES the amount of time it takes to load a page because it caches your site and heavily used pages and sends them directly to the browser.

@Temmie19 @enigmatico Cloudflare isn't about protection at all.It's main service is a caching proxy.Also does DNS hosting and it actually has a CDN part for JavaScript (which is bloat).
