@Nirty_Digger Unfortunately this is actually not the good thing. The seal of confession is so important that the priests are supposed to allow themselves to die before they will break it. If the priest really did this he is actually excommunicated now. It seems that this was indirectly so he should be able to be reinstated after the sufficient penance though. Thank you friend.

@bebe Oh. I didn't know how serious they took the keeping of others dirty laundry so seriously. I was raised in a (liberal) Baptist church so I never done the full on confession to a priest yet. I should probably do it soon.

@Nirty_Digger A classic misunderstanding of confession; its not there as a free guilt remover its there so you can come to terms with your sins and seek repentance from God.I also suspect the priest mentioned to confess this info to her husband which got a "Yeah, sure" in response which was quickly forgotten. Makes more sense than the Mr, Magooing himself into giving away the sin.

@Nirty_Digger Yes thank you friend. I would recommend you find the latin mass parish and perform the confession to the priest there, as the priests tend to be more traditional and take things very seriously. Thank you friend.

@WaitingForMajorian @Nirty_Digger @bebe I was under the impression that priests are supposed to be granted a grace that allows them to forget the content of confessions. The priests I've heard from were super serious as not so much as whispering a word of any confession outside of that confession booth and only at the time that the confession is being performed. Do not ask your priest about your previous confessions. He will do his best to forget them.
