@nugger OH! I forgot to tell you, but since we last posted about bows I've since gotten one. The one in this video specifically. After reading that these inexpensive bows are often a few pounds off, I ordered the 40 lb so that it would at least be 35, which was originally about what I was looking at. I've also come a long way in nigger rigging up what i've been calling my Hobo STALKER suit. I really should post that some time. All I need to complete it is a good woolen tunic and a pair of tall moccasins or tall boots without heels. youtu.be/ocROMyjxRoQ

@nugger >I've also come a long way in nigger rigging up what i've been calling my Hobo STALKER suitI'll do the actual breakdown on it when I've completed it. But right now, my plan is a base layer of a tunic, I want a couple woolen ones for colder months and couple linen ones for warmer months, ideally. As my goal is to eventually *live* in this set up, rather than treat it as an occasional costume. A pair of tall moccasines and short moccasines for footwear. This is going to be the biggest pain in the ass, as I've got a size 14 shoe. I've since gotten a set of tweed vests, but I also want a leather (or suede, even) jerkin for Aragorn authenticity as a wickable middle layer. I've already acquired and started making use of a canvas duster for the outermost layer. So far it's been best for rain, along with the cloak.

@Feltre @nugger Haven't shot it enough to say anything definitive, but my opinion is generally along the same lines as the video review. It has a learning curve that's steeper than more modern bows. But I like it. I only ever plan on using it for raccoons, rabbits and such. String it comes with isn't that good. It's something that's going to be replaced soon enough.

@ConfederateHobo @Feltre @nugger What kind of string are you looking at? And if you find a source for more traditional strings instead of nylon, hit me up nigga because I need a regular string and a tillering string

@WoodshopHandman @Feltre @nugger >What kind of string are you looking at?I actually don't know. Up until now, I've only shot a compound. (Which is more or less completely useless for translating to other bows) so I've still got a ton to learn before I can say. But there seems to be all sorts of materials and styles? Most bow strings do seem to be some sort of modern composit material though. It would be extremely cool to get my hands on one made of sinew one day.

@ConfederateHobo @Feltre @nugger I remember you could make bowstrings out of flax (linen) in Runescape but I'm not sure how much that translates to IRL bows
