@RustyCrab i couldn't say, it's customizable enough.i did not need customization though, i just needed something that was snappy and lightweight on my netbook. XFCE was not very snappy yet weighs the same memory usage. Mate seems perfect for this case

@neko @RustyCrab xfce doesn't have issues with not being snappy enough on my box, but I run it with no compositor and stuff because I have seen that fuck it up. MATE is good too I used to use it in the past, but only switched because I couldn't find certain features I wanted like a searchable start menu and etc. for it.

@icscarythings @neko I run xfce on a laptop with a 9 year old celeron and 2 gigs of ram. Everything responds instantly and ive never had issues.

@RustyCrab @neko yeah I've only had issues when transparency and stuff is enabled and it slams the GPU on older machines for no reason, but it also did and didn't happen after updates and was different on different distros. So it may be a build problem or driver config issue.

Funnily enough, unity was always my favorite, and I'm still mad that Canonical stopped developing it because too many linux spergs got mad that Ubuntu defaulted to it over something more autistic like GNOME or Xfce.
