Is it possible to throttle my computer's ethernet port? Downloading more than just a few hundred kbps is enough to basically DoS all the internet for the whole house. Because downloads just try to use all my bandwidth, it means I can only run downloads at night when everyone is asleep. If I could throttle downloads, I could (albeit slowly) download stuff during the day too.

@OpenComputeDesign No idea about the ethernet port, but you could do some of the downloads via a dedicated download application, like aria2.aria2 has an option for that: https://aria2.github.io/manual/en/html/aria2c.html#cmdoption-max-overall-download-limit

@OpenComputeDesign You can set the port's connection speed to 10BaseT which would be 10megabit. The downloader you're using probably also has an option to throttle downloads
