Cawthorn's team issued a statement that "We welcome the opportunity to prove that [Cawthorn] committed no wrongdoing and that he was falsely accused by partisan adversaries for political gain." Three days later, Cawthorn's belated filings showed he had violated the STOCK Act.

@web3isgreat The lesson here isn't "don't self-deal with shady financial dealings" (which a lot of congresspeople do without suffering any repercussions), but "don't call out your own party's cocaine fueled orgies."Getting Congress to enforce the rules of ethics for their own members is like pulling a jaguar's teeth but if you, as a congressperson, embarrass your party by calling them out, they'll bury you so far down that noone will ever find your body.
