@VitaminF Idk I have heard of various "based" Catholic sects but I don't know why those people cope and continue to latch onto the organizational structure of that church when they fundamentally disagree with it and see it's faults. They should just become reformed or something else.

@Riamu @VitaminF This is the thing though, as far as I know, maybe the folks at @Godcast can provide input, but in catholicism you're supposed to adhere to the structures of the Church. If you go for a schism, you're basically protestant. There are sedevacantists (ppl who basically believe that the Vatican has lost its mandate post Vaticanum II), but most people are just going to do whatever the church says. Even if they don't like it. It's the same mechanism that makes boomers who hate gay shit etc to stay with the republican party.

Do you think some granny from a parish or even some guy who goes to a church in a big city has ever heard about the Pope giving funds to italian tranny prostitutes during COVID? They never will, even if you show them they'll probably think you're a charlatan, they'll just continue thinking the Church is still based, even if secretly, because it has to in modern times, and that there's nothing to fear and we must all trust the plan/the elites. That's just how tribalism works and it kind of sucks but yeah.

I think the trad larp is a large part of why it's all fucked. @Riamu @VitaminF @Godcast I tried to tell my parents who are big PiS supporters in Poland about the shit that party does that goes exactly counter to their rhetoric and stated goals that got them elected and it's just like talking to a tree stump. Either they disbelieve you, or they say it's 4D chess because "their guy" has to play along with some bullshit while he prepares a total counteroffensive or something, or instead of addressing it they accuse you of supporting the opposition, or just say that anyway that's who they believe in because there's no one else. And their TV friend just keeps them in that illusion, blaring on 24/7.And like, the funny thing is, I remember my dad talking about communist propaganda and laughing about how absurd it was but he's just getting reeled in like a dumb fish by this bullshit, hook, line and sinker.And in these moments I understand Borzoi's wrath at the people doing this to our family, particularly our elders. @Riamu @VitaminF I'm not really opposed to the Ordinary Rite per se, and to be honest they have been tightening up the rubrics at least where I live so that it resembles more and more what the Latin Mass is anyway. I think a lot of Trads fail to realize that there was a reason why everything crumbled as quickly as it did in the mid 20th Century, it wasn't simply pure subversion.

@LouisConde @VitaminF Well tbh I have nothing against the laypeople on the church I have utter disdain for the pedo leadership and my main gripe is people won't even acknowledge that or rationalize/cope about it. And religiously speaking my belief is that the laypeople will go to heaven even though I think they are misguided on some theological issues. But if you were to point at any specific protestant church and ask me If I thought they were good idk. That's why I don't go mainly is all the ones here are gay.
