Whenever I write something about design I really struggle to find a place to publish it which is not my own blog. Too long and theoretical for magazines ("too many ideas"); not scientific enough for journals (which is true). I just received a response from a notorious graphic design magazine saying that they like the essay but there is to much in it, so they ask me to write a new, shorter essay based on a single idea. Which is great: already having a response and a counter-proposal is something amazing. But still, I spent *months* researching and writing the long essay, struggling connect disparate ideas, and now I have no place to publish it. I feel that online there is really no space for synthesis.

@entreprecariat yes that is probably true about academia, but I think it depends on how radical a school is to appreciate zines as well. And you will have more readers if it is available online as a screen version for free. And you can publish as long and plural as you want. Then you can branch off a smaller version to be published in a magazine or journal.

@entreprecariat @mara Can I be cheeky and request the PDF too?I hope this thread is actually just a way to build hype for your upcoming design journal where multiple ideas are allowed to collide in messy unscientific ways.
