Now that the World Wide Web is just an application platform and no longer gives a damn about hypertext, what say we reinvent hypertext and do it better?

@gabek I think it's cute and fun, but it's not a suitable hypertext model. It lies somewhere between Gopher and HTML/HTTP. I'd love to explore some concepts that are more like Project Xanadu or Hyper-G.

@twylo Look into HTMX, it's a simple JavaScript library that extends HTML to be a more powerful hypertext. It works with a bunch of new attributes and a server capable of sending "HTML fragments" over AJAX.

@twylo @pixel isn’t that what some folks here are doing as Gemini? https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gemini_(protocol)

@twylo It's easy to do better than a web browser, but try improving on this: http://man.cat-v.org/plan_9/6/plumbThese are all hyperlinks in every program system wide: in a web browser, in an irc log, in ed, anywhere:47 USC 230110 Stat. 56Public law 104-104bug:69105(which issue tracker the bug is looked up in is determined from additional context such as the current working directory)RFC 5321 § 3.6.3doi:10.1145/2892208.2892211

@chucker I think Gemini is fun, but it's certainly not a great hypertext system. It's somewhere between Gopher and HTTP, but I'm more interested in exploring things that are closer to Project Xanadu and Hyper-G.
