@Dan_Hulson The Tag is very nice and the Orient reminds me of a Rolex but my favorite is the Seiko. It's good to know that it is affordable. I might eventually get one until I can afford something nicer.

@hazlin @Dan_Hulson I had that problem too but you can always use "nato" straps if the metal type bother you. Eventually you'll get used to it."Nato" type watch straps are my favorite method but I only have Luminox watches right now and they're not super fancy or made of metal.

@Dan_Hulson I'll upload some pictures of the watches I have in a little bit. They're nothing special compared to what you have but decent every day pieces. When you said you were a watch collector I was thinking you were one of the guys who collected those watches they pushed on YouTube (MVMNT I think is what they were called) but boy was I wrong. You've got great taste and a very nice collection.It's always good to talk to people with different interests and hobbies because now I understand why they can be more of an investment as well as a collection if you buy good stuff like you do. The benefit of being able to keep them from getting stolen in divorce court is another huge bonus.

I'll probably swap out the rubber strap on my black watch with the black Nato strap that came with the green watch. I need to send it off to have the battery replaced since it finally died after over 5 years. It's light weight and pretty durable but not as durable as the black watch that I'll upload next.

@Dan_Hulson Maybe it isn't too far off. Pawn shops usually do about 25% of what things are worth and resell them for about 50% so maybe he just wanted quick money?It seems like my favorite watch styles are dive watches and field watches. I'm kind of a utilitarian and like military type stuff too.

@Dan_Hulson That is the type of thing that keeps me from buying some higher end stuff like that used. I don't know enough about them to not get ripped off so I play it safe.I'd think if the gas release works it is probably legit since that type of feature might be hard to fake? I don't know for certain though.There was a warning about fake chinese stuff like optics, Trijicon ACOGs, EOTechs, and Aimpoints in particular, that I remember reading and they usually get small details wrong along with using different/cheaper materials. Certain things they have trouble faking altogether like the quality electronics and high end glass for the optics which comes from usually two different places; either "schott" glass (I think I'm remembering that name and spelling correctly) in Germany or some place in Japan that makes glass for a lot of companies.

@Dan_Hulson When I was looking at the ORIS watches after you told me about them last night they did indeed look well made and heavy. @Dan_Hulson Do you use the features of the Chronograph watches very often?I like having the date and the one-way dive bezels come in handy, aside from that I've never really had a watch with more features.The "pilot's" watches seem to have those features and someday I'd like to get my "private pilot license" so maybe I'd eventually use the features.Do you have any of the garmin GPS watches, casio mud-master, or apple watches? For my uses which would be exercising and maybe daily use I'm not real sure which of them would be the best option. The apple watches have some cool features and aren't as expensive as I thought they'd be.

@UnityOstara @Dan_Hulson Hockey is pretty cool. I've only ice skated a couple times. In the south/southeast there weren't very many ice rinks haha. There is one in my state about 45 minutes from where I live and I've been there to ice skate less than a handful of times. It was fun and came fairly natural to me.

One day I'd like to take a trip on a train, especially an old steam train like that.As I child I enjoyed the cartoon "Thomas the tank engine" (I think that was the name of it) so I had an appreciation for trains and the British railway from the beginning.

The british focussed on having a small professional army.The prussians had a militia but they drilled the shit out of them and made sure they could fight.The french were the orks. They had huge numbers but shit morale and virtually no training. Napoleon's primary strategy was to form up a column of men and march them at the enemy so that the guys behind couldn't see everyone dying in front of them.Same in WW1 and 2, they called up everyone and gave them rifles, even old men.

The reason that quote applies to Prussia is the degree to which society was organised around the army. They were like a mannerbund stuck in the middle of 19th century europe.The US isn't really the same, spending a lot of money on your army isn't the same as being army obsessed like the prussians were. France spent a lot of money on their army.

Eventually I would like to buy a whole town and start a wholesome all white community.Losing the heritage is a bad deal for all of us. I wish they still had those European cultural fairs where each ethnic group from Europe had a part in a parade and a booth with their traditions, history, food, etc.

Doesn't always work that way.Some might say it's because we're kind of individualist but it's probably just that those tribes weren't all very friendly with each other to begin with. In other cases where they were in later history like with Alfred uniting Anglo-Saxon kingdoms after flushing out the viking invasion, or Bismarck forming Germany, it worked out fine.

I mean, same deal, Alfred and Bismarck didn't have an easy time of it uniting those kingdoms, they valued their independence.Also, I shy away from putting uniters on a pedestal. Making political unions bigger rarely has good results. There are many younger people in our movement who have lost hope and I do everything I can to talk them into trying to be the best person they can be.It's better to try and fulfill your dreams and fail than it is to play it safe and have regrets. Especially nowadays because playing it safe will not allow you to afford nearly as much as it used to. A person would be very luck to afford to own a home and have a family these days by "playing it safe."
