Considering doing a bit of video game streaming today. Been a long time.Trying to find a good platform that's AP/Fediverse compatible, closest I've found so far is PeerTube's Live function but there's no chat. How am I supposed to get the story spoiled without my back seat gamers on chat?!

@userthree I would suggest @owncast , integrated chat and probably less latency. After the stream you may upload the vid to peertube!

@marcelcosta @owncastIt looks really interesting, but I'm primarily looking for a one stop solution - Even if the export is automated, there will be different URLs for streaming and viewing archives.I also want federation. If I understand PeerTubes system, it notifies AP subscribers not only of a new video but also about ongoing streams. That seems like an incredible benefit of using a federated system over a free standing.I really miss chat though. One of the things I appreciate about streaming is the community. I think I'm going to promote XMPP chats both on and off stream, not only because I want to encourage the protocol in general but it also seems that the coming chat for PeerTube will be based on XMPP as well. Thanks for the suggestion and making me aware of another interesting project though. 🤩

@userthree @owncast I understand your arguments!Let me just point two aspects:you can set a chat inthe peertube live (based on xmpp). However, because of its p2p nature, there’s always some lag on the stream itself. I don’t know if you can deactivate the p2p setting of stream…Owncast has incorporated federation, so you can follow channels and get notifications upon new streams.
