@cookie@mk.gaycookie.dev the 5r+ has multiple color options but the S9+ is about the same price and has a higher wattage, but battery compatibility is broken, but you also get more colors

@cookie@mk.gaycookie.dev I would splerge and at least get the s9 which is only $7 more than a 5r and you get 8 watts of power instead of 5.The 5r+ doesn't have the whine of the 5r and has some metal accents, but the 5r+ is $3 more than the 5r+ which makes no sense imo

@jessica@mk.absturztau.be Ah yea I got the UV-5R already, that had no color options haha!But Ill look those all up soon, but I dont wanna buy too many of them since I still not own my HAM-license, so I can't even use the one I have already haha :scared_felix:At least listening is already fun enough and wattage doesn';t matter for that xd

@jessica@mk.absturztau.be Why return it? If you dont use it but liked it, why not make sure you give it to someone that also would like to learn HAM stuff or need a good walkie-talkie.. Or maybe even just put it up for display ;D

@cookie@mk.gaycookie.dev the only downside with the S9+ is that there's no extended battery pack, you only have the stock onethough that pack is 4000mah higher in capacity than the 5r and you get to directly charge the battery pack with USB using their cable that converts the voltage. you don't need to carry a cradle with you if you take it with you, which is great, and when the battery pack dies I guess you can just use the battery pack as a "battery dildo" though note that there's no battery dildo for the s9 officially.
