@coldacid You can turn off almost everything "google" though, except make sure you got replacements first, especially for the keyboard.

@coldacid If you don't use a VPN, I recommend NetGuard. It sets up a per app, per network type data block in the android VPN slot. I use SwiftKey, but MS never gets data from it, for example.

@harvhat @coldacid you know Samsung has its own Galaxy Store, separate from Google's Play Store. It's worth installing their free My Files file browser because it also gives your Android system an SMB Samba client driver for free that lets you work with any file shares like those off your NAS box. VLC even uses it. @coldacid I am old enough to remember when Microsoft was being sued the world over for including Internet Explorer in its software - even though you could certainly use another browser if you wished.However, if you created your product for the CIA and then put your product on the open market as a stand-alone company, you know every large corporation and government agency is backing you. You won't get sued.

@harvhat @coldacid I'm implying that the same people who made your phone are going to make an app for the phone that isn't going to come with malware in it and if some Joker does drop any in it quality control catches that. Verses downloading an app made by some fly-by-night joker you never heard of before, likely a guy in a communist country or someone trying to secretly run a background crypto hashing thread or something on your phone.

@Klaatu And I'm saying outright that companies have *no problem* making and shipping malware, even Korean companies. Not sure why you are so trusting of them. That software is written by the same "fly-by-night jokers" that write the stuff Googles serves up. @coldacid
